On Tuesday night, the year 7, 8 and 9 netball teams travelled to Smithills.
The Year 7 team started off the evening with a great performance.
At halftime, the girls were 1-0 up. They were playing well and showing some real determination to win. They went onto score another two goals in the second half but – unfortunately – due to some tactical player changes (made at half time) Smithills managed to get 4 goals passed our defence.
The game ended 4-3 to Smithills. We played really well and it was such a close game but Smithills scored in the last minute.
Charlotte Robinson was awarded with ‘Player of the Match’ by the other team – well done Charlotte!
The Year 8s played on the other court and were cheered on by Mr Grundy. Their game was also very close and ended 6-6. Mr Grundy said there were some great examples of play and he was impressed with the girls grit and determination. Freya Swailes got ‘Player of the Match’ in that game – well done!
Finally, the Year 9 team were the last to play. The team were struggling for players due to other commitments so Charlotte and Leah (from Year 7) played up so they could fulfill the game. Smithills team had a formidable defence team – that we found hard to break – however, we did manage to score two goals against them in the second half. Unfortunately, Smithills were also strong in attack and the game finished 4-2 to Smithills.
The ‘Player of the Match’ was Aimee Hart – well done!
