Dear Parent/Carer

I am writing to inform you of the arrangements for the end of term and expectations for the start of the new school year in September.

Monday 16th to Thursday 19th July lessons will be as normal.  Please ensure your child attends school on time every day this week as normal.

Friday 20th July: School will close at 12.40pm and all pupils will be dismissed in year group order.

If your child is entitled to a free school meal, this will be available in the dining room at morning break to take home later.  If it is not possible for your child to leave school at 12.40pm, please let the Form Tutor know as soon as possible so that we can make arrangements to look after him/her until 3.05pm.

The last day of term will be a non-uniform day and pupils are asked to make a £1 donation if they wish to attend school in casual, but suitable attire.  All donations will go to charity; thank you for your anticipated support.

The 928 and 929 bus services will operate as normal on Friday morning and they will both also be available at 12.40pm.

It has been a very successful year at Sharples School and I fully expect 2018 – 2019 to be even better.  We look forward to welcoming our new Year 7 pupils into our Sharples family in September and ensuring that they make the most of the many learning opportunities which the school offers.  We believe strongly that learning extends beyond the classroom and, with this in mind, we have provided a range of learning activities and resources on “Show My Homework” which pupils can access over the holiday should they wish to.

In preparation for the next academic year, I would like to congratulate our pupils on how smart they look every day when they present themselves in a professional manner. To maintain these high standards, I would like to draw your attention to our policy on shoes.  All shoes must be black and polishable. The following are not permitted: plimsolls; sports footwear; suede shoes and shoes with logos on.  Please refer to our website https://www.sharplesschool.co.uk/policies/

In the “Parent Zone” on the website you will also find Information Packs which contain a wealth of useful information to support you in the new academic year.

Thank you for your continuing support of Sharples School as we come to the end of an exciting and eventful year for all.

Year 7 pupils will start on Tuesday 4th September

Years 8-11 will return on Wednesday 5th September at the normal time of 8.45am at the very latest.

I hope you have a safe and restful summer and look forward to welcoming your child back to Sharples for the start of the new school year.

Yours sincerely,

Ms A Webster
