Ms Molyneux’s Update Letter

By 25 November 2024No Comments

Dear Parent/Carer,

The past few weeks have been extremely busy, with a multitude of opportunities for students in all year groups, including the Sponsored Silence and Swimathon for Children In Need that featured on BBC Radio Manchester and North West Tonight, over 30 clubs every week to choose from and the very successful Library Lock-in evenings where Y7 and 8 have been given the opportunity to sleepover in the Sharples Library!

Congratulations are due to our Year 11 students who completed their PPE mock examinations last week with 100% effort and professionalism. We look forward to sharing the results and next steps with parents at the Year 11 Parents Evening next Thursday 5th December.

I would also like to provide you with an update on arrangements for the final weeks of term and some of the events happening before the festive break that we hope you will be able to support.

Next Friday 6th December 2024 is a Staff Training Day and the school will be closed to students.

The final day of term is Friday 20th December 2024 when school closes at 12.30pm. The school buses will run at this time.

We have a number of exciting events planned for the festive season for students and their families:

  • Wednesday 11th December – 18.00-20.00 – Festive Bingo for all the family in the Theatre.
  • Friday 13th December – 15.30-17.30 – Sharples Christmas Markets.  Open to students, families and the wider community we will have stalls with gifts, food and drink available, plus of course Santa’s Grotto!
  • Tuesday 17th December – 18.30 start Carol Concert at St Paul’s Church, Astley Bridge, with mince pies and hot drinks after the performances.  Donations to the church are welcome on the night.
  • Thursday 19th December – 18.00-20.00 – Sharples Winter Showcase – performances from our Music and Drama students. Tickets are available on the night – £3 for adults and £2 for children.

In addition, Year 7-9 are invited to join us for a trip to the cinema in the final week of term. All details are on MCAS.

Finally, I would like to thank all families who have supported our Book Wishlist so far. It is very much appreciated. If you would like to contribute to our school library, visit the website: schools.scholastic.co.uk/sharples-school

Yours sincerely
