Looking Forward to a Productive Summer Term!

My name is Ann Webster and I am very proud to have been appointed Acting Headteacher of Sharples School. I consider it a privilege to be a part of such a vibrant learning community and I look forward to seeing Sharples build upon its excellent reputation over the coming months.

Visitors to Sharples always comment on the positive and focused learning ethos which is evident across the school. They are also impressed by our fantastic students who embody our core values of courtesy, co-operation, consideration and common-sense.

Sharples is a busy school; in the last week of term we presented our new School Leaders with their gold ties as well as hosting reward assemblies to recognise the excellent attendance records maintained by the vast majority of our pupils. We celebrated the achievements of the Progress Leaders from each year group and also welcomed families and friends to the school to enjoy our annual Easter Bingo.

Over the Easter holidays Sharples has continued to be productive with staff providing an extensive range of learning opportunities to support our Year 11s in the run-up to their final exams. In addition the History Department led a highly successful trip to France which was enjoyed by almost fifty of our pupils and included visits to the World War One Battlefields. Our pupils benefit greatly from educational visits such as this as it provides them with a valuable opportunity to see their learning within the classroom brought to life.

I have no doubt that the Summer Term will be just as action-packed as we seek to maximise learning opportunities for every pupil both within and beyond the classroom. As we move forward we will seek to build upon the many strengths of the school and enhance our provision even further for the benefit of all of our learners. At Sharples we have a culture of high expectations and no excuses, therefore we will continue to provide creative, collaborative and innovative ways to ensure that all of our pupils achieve great things.

I look forward to leading the Sharples team over the coming months and sharing with you the good news about our school’s next achievements.
