Dear parent/carer,

I am writing to inform you of the arrangements and expectations for the start of the new school year in September.

It has been a successful year at Sharples School and I fully expect 2017 – 2018 to be even better. We look forward to welcoming our new Year 7 pupils into our Sharples family in September and ensuring that they make the most of the many learning opportunities which the school offers. We believe strongly that learning extends beyond the classroom and, with this in mind, we have provided a range of learning activities and resources on “Show My Homework” which pupils can access over the holiday should they wish to.

In preparation for the next academic year, I would like to congratulate our pupils on how smart they look every day when they present themselves in a professional manner. To maintain these high standards, I would like to draw your attention to our policy on shoes. All shoes must be black and polishable. The following are not permitted: plimsolls, sports footwear, suede shoes and shoes with logos on. Please refer to our website www.sharplesschool.co.uk/policies/ or click here

In the Parent Zone on the school website you will also find Information Packs (click here) which contain a wealth of useful information to support you in the new academic year.

Thank you for your continuing support of Sharples School as we come to the end of an exciting and eventful year for all.

Year 7 pupils will start on Tuesday 5th September.

Years 8-11 will return on Wednesday 6th September at the normal time of 8.45am at the very latest.

Please note that Thursday 24th August is GCSE results day, with results being available from 9.30am.

I hope you have a safe and restful summer and look forward to welcoming your child back to Sharples for the start of the new school year.

Yours sincerely,

Ms A Webster, Acting Headteacher
