International School Award Update

I am delighted to inform you that during the summer, Sharples School was awarded the full accreditation of the International School Award. This award recognises the hard work of both students and staff in working with our international partners over the last year, as well as the work we have done within school (and the curriculum) to become more internationally aware.

As well as gaining this prestigious award from the British Council, we were also successful in two funding bids from Erasmus+. One of the bids for £75,000 will fund CPD to enhance the skills of our teachers. The second of £40,000 will allow 14 Sharples pupils to visit Spain within the next two years on a cultural exchange to improve their Spanish skills ahead of their GCSEs. We will also host 14 Spanish pupils in that time and our science team will use their expertise to educate those students (and teachers) who visit our school.

These are all very exciting opportunities for Sharples pupils to broaden their horizons and become more involved in the wider world.

We will be posting regular updates about our projects on the school website – watch this space!
