Year 10 and Year 7 were both in action on Tuesday in the Bolton Cup. A torrential down pour after school had a huge effect on both games. Unfortunately, Sharples weren’t singing in the rain. Despite the best efforts of Ryan Ashe (in goal for Y10) and Josh Onley’s excellent strike (Y7), both teams couldn’t avoid defeat.

Year 9 were in action the following night away to Ladybridge looking for their fifth successive win. With Ladybridge taking a narrow 1-0 lead into halftime, the first half saw very few chances. Jack Banks twice went close in the second half but his efforts were saved by the keeper. Ladybridge capitalised on this and were clinical in front of goal to win the game by 4 goals to nil.

Year 8 were the team of the week as they cruised through to the quarter final of the Bolton Cup with an outstanding 7-1 win over Kearsley Academy. It was an excellent team display with Matthew Senior scoring an impressive hat trick and ‘Man of the Match’ Josh Crompton scoring 2,. Scoring his first goal of the season, Mustafa Khan was influential in our win as well as Will Scarborough. He managed to sealed the win with a back heel with the last kick of the game.

On the first Tuesday back after half term, we will face Little Lever. Watch this space!
