Earlier this year, Charlotte Humphries (a year 11 pupil) received a funded communication aid. The aid is called Novachat, or affectionately known as ‘Charlottes’ Voice’. This is a high tech communication aid that speaks sentences that Charlotte constructs herself. This will ensure that she contributions to conversations, class discussions and responds to questions posed. To assist her in the progression of her understanding and skills using the Novachat, she has been having weekly sessions with Gregor Gilmour. Gregor Gilmour, who an ambassador for the action group ‘One Voice’, is also an advanced communication aid user for the last 18 years. Gregor knows the full benefits the aid can bring to everyday life. Charlotte has progressed to now using the Novachat in her lessons and with her friendship groups. She has been a quick learner with a wicked sense of humour. You can hear her ‘voice’ very often around school.
