On Monday 1st July, 5 exceptional linguists (Qasim Hajee, Laiba Mahboob, Khadijah Mohmed, Hannah Patel and Sakeela Alli) went to represent Sharples at the annual Bolton Translation Bee at Thornleigh. The candidates had already gone up against the other pupils at Sharples and came out on top in terms of their knowledge of key French and Spanish vocabulary.
Despite the rain, their spirits were not dampened and they were keen to show off what they could do. The nerves started to mount, as their turns approached, but they got up on stage and represented the school with pride. We had no winners this year but the competition was tight. All the pupils were happy to participate and were proud to have overcome their nerves in order to stand up on stage and give it their all. All the participants were issued with a certificate and badge.
Well done to our Translation Bee finalists!
