As part of the eV Grand Prix UK challenge, six Year 9 pupils have been selected to build their own kit go-kart to test and race at the Three Sisters Race Circuit in Wigan. To prepare the pupils for the task, they were invited to Blackburn College for a chance to see what their go-kart will eventually be like once built. Pupils were given an insight into mechanical and electrical systems within the go-kart by lecturer Craig Midgley as well as potential pitfalls that they should avoid when building their own.

Pupils generated ideas for modifications that they will make to their own kart to ensure it is successful and can be the winner of the race day in July. Pupils are eager to start building their own Sharples go-kart to – hopefully – be first on the podium in July!
