This week saw visits from several of our local primary schools.

On Tuesday, St Matthew’s Year 5 came to learn about space. They visited the observatory and used the Bunsen burners to find out about the different colours in stars.

Later on in the week, Year 6 came along to find out about ropes and pulleys! They have been studying the Mayans and how they built temples without the machinery we have today. One of the tasks was to design a flag for their school and raise it using a pulley!

On Thursday, The Oaks Year 6 pupils enjoyed an afternoon cooking muffins in our food technology kitchens. They had visited Cadbury World earlier in the week and came to Sharples to try out some cake recipes that included lots of chocolate!

Finally, The Valley’s Year 4,5 and 6 have been practising for their performance of “The Wizard of Oz in our school theatre. Over 180 pupils will take part in their production. I will be watched by parents and the community next week! Thank you to Mrs Stevens from Sharples who has been working with them on their dancing and acting preparation for the show!
