On the 30th October, local poet Paul Jenkins delivered a poetry workshop to our Year 7 Good 2 Great students. The workshop was on the theme of gothic horror, inspired by Halloween and ‘The Woman in Black’, the novel Year 7 are currently reading in English. The workshop started with Paul reading out some of his poems and then asking students to generate some spooky words. The students then worked in groups to write their own poems. The session ended in some spine-tingling dramatic performances of the students’ poems. Here are some quotes summing up how much our Year 7s enjoyed the workshop:
Ozair Patel: “I enjoyed it because he made some jokes that got the whole class cracking up. I also enjoyed the part where we all had to act out our poems.”
