Year 7 have been training every week since the end of the domestic football league in October. As a reward for their commitment a league fixture was arranged against ESSA Academy on their state-of-the-art 4G astro turf under the flood lights.
In the first half, Sharples struggled to cope with the physicality of some of the ESSA players and soon found themselves 2 goals down. As always, the team refused to give up and responded well as Gil Nougheria pulled a goal back after good work from Kyle Jones.
The second half saw both teams create plenty of chances, but ESSA capitalised on their opportunities whilst Sharples failed to score in the second half. Milli-Lea Knowles came the closest and forced a fantastic save from ESSA's keeper with a long range effort going into the top corner. The final result was a 4-1 defeat but the team won't have to wait long to put it right as they entertain Ladybridge next Tuesday.
