On Saturday, the astronomy club travelled to York University to meet Tim Peake!
We were chosen from hundreds of school applicants to present at the UK Space Agency “Schools Principia” conference.
The group had to construct a poster and create a stall informing delegates about their Astronomy work at Sharples.
As part of the conference, they were treated to a lecture by Tim Peake.  This was followed by the chance to meet the man himself! They chatted to the astronaut for several minutes before presenting him with a homemade cake decorated with his own Principia Mission Patch!
The students also got the opportunity to hear from other schools about their astronomy work.
It was a fantastic day and inspirational for the students.
