This week our hockey club relaunched after the summer break. Katie from Bolton Wanderers Community Project is taking the lead in the sessions, which are aimed at both boys and girls who are interested in the sport. If you are interested, come along on Mondays (after school).

Tuesday saw the Year 9, 10 and 11 teams play netball against Harper Green. The Year 9 and 11 teams found it hard to score due to a strong Harper Green defence. The Year 10 team had no issue and managed a comfortable win of 14 - 2. We must say a special ‘thank you’ to the three Year 9 girls who stood in for players missing from the Year 10 team. The players of the games were, Tulsi Varsani and Emily Jones for Year 9; Megan Heyes for Year 10 and Parris Heyes for Year 11. It was a great start to the season by all of our teams. The next match is Monday 21st against Westhoughton.

The Wednesday night netball training session was very well attended. This is always great to see and usually pays off during competitive matches.

On Thursday, the Year 10 and 11 team played their first game of the season against St. James's. They are a formidable team to play in the first full week and they played to their high standard. Sharples found their defence hard to break down, a few near misses kept spirits and belief up. In the end, St James’ proved too strong and the game finished 6 - 2 to them. Megan Heyes was deservedly awarded player of the match after her performance in goal, she kept Sharples in the match by making some first class saves.

This week was very positive for the girls. Keep it up!
