Despite awful weather conditions, Year 10 were fortunate that their game at Essa was still on. In a remarkable game, Sharples score 7 goals; 2 in their own net and 5 in that of the opposition. Incredibly though, Sharples still managed to lose the game! The pick of the goals were Bilal Mather's 30 yard free kick and Ali Khan who was superb in midfield. It was an entertaining and enjoyable game but Sharples will look to tighten up in defence in their next outing.
The badminton team were back in action this week against Canon Slade and Westhoughton. The team gave debuts to Cameron Jones and Tyler Condron. After some difficult encounters in recent games, Sharples looked determined to be more competitive against older and more experienced teams. Indeed they were and despite not winning overall, both the 'A' and 'B' team won numerous games with a much-improved performance. There were plenty of positives to build on for next week.
The Under 13s basketball team had their first match of the season this week. St Joseph's were a year older but Sharples competed well and showed excellent signs for the future. Matthew Senior was top point scorer but couldn't help Sharples suffering their first defeat.
