Library Grand Opening

By 3 November 2022No Comments

After an extremely long wait, on Tuesday 1st November, our new library officially opened! In the morning, during assembly, our very talented Head Boy, Head Girl and newly-appointed reading ambassadors talked about what the library opening meant to them. Throughout the day, our golden ticket winners were given the opportunity to gain first and exclusive access to the library. They were incredibly excited to be one of the first to get their hands on one of the hundreds of new fiction and non-fiction books we had to offer. We also had a very talented local author, Danielle Jawando, who came in to speak to students about how she became a published author. The inspiration was so contagious that all her books from the library had been taken out by the end of the day! Here are some quotes from our students:

“There was so much choice in the library, it was overwhelming” – Safira T

“Reading offers more than a chance to escape but also to learn. The best thing about books is there is a book for everyone.” – Finley W

“I believe this is an investment into the future of every pupil here, and I’m very excited for students at Sharples to take the opportunity to discover their own appreciation for words.” – Raeesa M

“For me, reading allows you to be a part of an imaginary world and escape to a different world and having this new library means so much to me. Personally, my favourite book is Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s stone, and I love that we have the whole collection in the library.” – Hatim K
