On Monday, Year 5 classes from The Oaks and High Lawn visited Sharples to take part in an ‘Icelandic Experience!’. The pupils took part in Science experiments to model the methods used by Iceland to generate electricity using the island's geothermal activity. They did this using a Bunsen burner and a windmill!
In Geography, the students learnt about tourism in Iceland. Whilst in Art, the pupils produced artwork based on the amazing glaciers that Iceland has. In August, our very own Mr Poole and Mr Callaghan will travel to Iceland on a ‘teacher experience’ with TREX who support teachers in finding out all about this amazing country and its unusual methods of producing its energy supplies.
We look forward to hearing about their trip in September!
