House System

At Sharples School, we have 4 Houses that all students, staff and Governors belong to. In June 2016, voting took place to choose the names of the Houses. The result saw the introduction of:

Jupiter House
Mercury House
Saturn House
Venus House

All four houses make up the strong house system at Sharples School. There are approximately 190 students in each House divided between eight Tutor groups. Each House is made up of students from years 7 to 11, creating a collegiate culture within our school. The House system at Sharples School is the very foundation of successful learning, where the personal and social wellbeing of every student is the main priority.

Each House prides itself on getting to know all students individually and to ensure that they have the best possible opportunity to learn and achieve in a safe and secure environment. The students develop strong, healthy and positive relationships with one another and their House tutors through constructive registration activities on a daily basis.

Throughout the year, students participate in 10 Inter-House events. These range from attendance to baking challenges and reward points to numeracy and literacy challenges. House news is on our weekly newsletter where you can see what is happening and what events are upcoming.

Our aim is to create an environment where students feel valued. We pride ourselves on the fact that all Houses are competitive, friendly, always encouraging each other and rewarding success. We believe that all students should be listened to and to be able to voice their opinion. With the House Forum, students are listened to and many of their suggestions have been actioned upon. We put emphasis on the use of good manners and respect amongst fellow students and teachers. We aim to prepare each student with the life skills required to leave Sharples School as young confident adults and responsible citizens who will make a positive contribution to society.
