This week the girls have played two football fixtures. The first on Tuesday night was against the formidable Turton. They have dominated recent leagues and tournaments and are definitely the toughest team in the league to score against. Both the KS3 and KS4 teams approached their games confidently and with a number of pairs on each bench which was great to see. This meant we were able to make subs as the girls got tired. As predicted Turton put out a strong team, especially upfront. Unfortunately both our teams were beaten. Megan Heyes got player of the match for KS4 and Milli Knowles for KS3. Well done to all that played.
On Wednesday evening we welcomed Westhoughton. They only have a KS3 team and again there was a great turn out from Sharples. Milli Knowles and Chloe Adamson worked really hard in midfield and played some great football. We went 1-0 up but that was shortly followed by a great goal by Westhoughton making it 1-1. Before half time, we managed to get another however...so did the opposition. At halftime the score was 2-2. The second half started slow but then we managed to break from their defense and score. They were unable to get one back and the match finished 3-2 to Sharples. It was a great game and Chloe Adamson got player of the match. Again, well done to everyone who played and a special mention to Tom Egan who didn't play but refereed on both evenings.Next week’s fixture is away against Canon Slade, good luck girls!
