At Sharples School, our aim is to provide an ambitious curriculum that enables all students to be the best that they can be, and helps them to ‘Learn, Dream and Achieve’. Our curriculum has been designed in a way that sequences knowledge so that it can be revisited and built upon, preparing students to be successful at GCSE and beyond.
Our curriculum is rooted in a knowledge-rich approach and recognises that knowledge underpins and enables the application of skill.
Our curriculum extends beyond the academic or vocational, and develops student’s character, interests and talents. We place a strong emphasis on student’s personal development in order to create confident individuals and responsible citizens who are able to contribute positively to life beyond Sharples .
We teach a curriculum that offers both breadth and depth of knowledge and understanding. Students study the full breadth of the National Curriculum at Key Stage 3 (Year 7, 8 and 9) and we aim to enrich our students by learning powerful, foundational knowledge that builds into their subjects studied at Key Stage 4 (Year 10 and 11). At Key Stage 4 our curriculum embraces a strong academic core and high value vocational courses leading to positive Post-16 pathways.
