Sharples’ Liz Kaminska (SENCO) and Linda Harrison (Year 11 Co-ordinator), were honoured to receive an invitation from former pupil Joe McManus to to attend a 3 course meal at Bury College this week.

Joe McManus is currently in his third year studying Catering and offered a menu of food with extensive choice. It was a tough decision but the two Sharples ladies settled on carrot and coriander soup served with croutons to start with along with potted prawns on a bed of leaves. Lamb stew and toad in the hole with onion gravy, sauteed potatoes, peas and carrots then followed.

Dessert was a difficult choice between rum nicky pie served with a rum sauce and parkin served with wensleydale cheese. Tea and coffee finished the meal off with kendal mint cake and petit fours. The food tasted superb, the setting was perfect with fresh flowers arranged on the tables and Joe did an excellent job as front of house welcoming his guests. Another of our ex-pupils, Guy Higham, was also present. Guy is currently in his first year studying the same subject.

Liz and Linda were very proud of both Joe and Guy who carried out their duties with confidence and have developed into fine young gentlemen.
